Ingredients You’ll Need

Following is a preview list. For the detailed list, find the recipe card below:

Brownie Base
  • Dark Chocolate – Adds a rich, fudgy depth to the brownies. Use 50–70% cocoa chocolate for balance.
  • Butter – Unsalted is best, allowing you to control the salt levels.
  • Cocoa Powder – Boosts chocolate flavor. Dutch-processed works best, but regular is fine.
  • Brown Sugar – Adds sweetness + chewiness. White sugar will work, but you’ll miss the caramel notes.
  • Eggs – Provide structure and richness. If you want it eggless, you can use yogurt or flax eggs (see FAQ).
  • Vanilla Extract – Rounds out the flavor.
  • All-Purpose Flour – Just enough to hold it together without losing that gooey center.
  • Extra Chocolate Chunks – Because more chocolate = happier brownies!
Coconut Barfi Layer
  • Milk – Full-fat whole milk is best for creaminess. You can use non-dairy milk (eg, almond, soya), but the flavour would be different.
  • Powdered Sugar – Sweetens the barfi evenly.
  • Cardamom Powder – The magical festive touch.
  • Freshly Grated or Desiccated Coconut – Both work! Fresh gives more chew; desiccated is quicker.
  • Ghee – Adds richness and keeps the barfi layer soft.
  • Mixed Nuts + Chocolate Chips – For topping and crunch.

FAQs

Q1: Can I make this recipe eggless?
Yes! Replace eggs with yogurt or flax eggs. The texture will be slightly denser but still delicious.

Q2: Can I make these ahead of festivals?
Absolutely. Make and refrigerate 1–2 days in advance. They slice better once chilled.

Q3: Can I use milk powder instead of fresh milk?
Yes – dissolve 3 tbsp milk powder in ½ cup warm water and proceed.

Q4: How do I cut neat squares?
Use a sharp knife. If your knife has too much material stuck on it, then dip it in hot water, and wipe between slices for clean edges.
