Eggless savoury scones

Cheesy,crunchy, and flaky with a dash of garlic and chili flavour these eggless savoury scones are a perfect snack to enjoy with your afternoon tea. Easy to make with few ingredients.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g Flour 1½ cups
  • 5 g Baking powder 1½ tsp
  • 3 g Salt ½ tsp
  • 5 g Sugar 1 tsp
  • 70 g Butter 5 tbsp-room temperature
  • 100 g Cheddar cheese(grated) 1 cup
  • 200 ml Buttermilk ¾ cup-cold
  • 2 Green chili optional
  • 7 cloves Garlic medium size
  • Black sesame seeds to sprinkle

Method
 

  1. Line the baking tray with a parchment/butter paper. Grease it with oil/butter.
  2. Crush green chili and garlic together.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200℃ (390 ℉).
  4. Sift in all dry ingredients in to a large bowl.
  5. Add butter and mix well with hands till well incorporated.
  6. Add sugar, cheese and garlic-green chili mixture and mix well.
  7. In to the bowl add buttermilk and make a dough.
  8. Dust a plane surface with flour. Place the dough on the surface and well dust the dough as well.
  9. Roll the dough in to a circular shape with around 1 cm thickness.
  10. Divide the dough in to 8 equal parts.
  11. Place them on the baking tray.
  12. Brush with butter and sprinkle some black sesame seeds on top of them.
  13. Bake at 200℃ (390 ℉) for 15-20 minutes or till golden brown colour is achieved.
  14. Take the tray out of oven and place scones on a wire rack to cool.
  15. Brush with butter before serving.
