I am Shilpa, creator of dough of delights. I’m an amateur baker and a chocolate addict. I reside by the backwaters of Kerala, India with my parents and 3 fur babies(2 dogs and a cat).

How I started my cooking journey

     My mum is a great cook but baking or desserts isn’t her forte. Even though food especially desserts has always been the love of my life, I wasn’t remotely interested in cooking or baking. One of the reasons was that I always felt intimidated. So growing up whatever indulgences I treated myself to were always store-bought or from a bakery. But life threw a curveball at me when I had to move to the rural side of the country where I had little to no access to my love desserts. (And when I say love desserts it means I am a hard-core addict, especially of chocolates). So naturally, my sugar cravings led me to the kitchen. And after many attempts, I successfully baked a chocolate cake from scratch thus starting my delightful journey.

I started this journey around 2015 and I am still going strong. I experimented a lot many were successful and many were failures. Every success came with a sense of accomplishment and pride, every failure came with tons of experience and knowledge. Also compliments from my loved ones boosted my confidence and encouraged me to keep on baking and creating new recipes.

Home made is best !

At first, it was very challenging for me to make everything from scratch, but the outcome was rewarding. I loved how much control I had over the quality and quantity of ingredients I put into my food. It opened doors for me to experiment and learn. And the produce I always ended up with was fresher, healthier, and better than alternatives available at the store.

My goal

I want to share my recipes and experience with people. I want to encourage them to step into the kitchen and create many wonders. Baking/cooking can seem little intimidating at first especially if you are creating everything from scratch. But all you need is little patience and passion.

What will you find here?

Here you’ll find approachable recipes that don’t require any fancy types of equipment, exotic ingredients, or long hours to cook. But if you feel fancy and, indulgent there’ll be options for that too. I am more focused on desserts and baked goods but, you will also find a sprinkling of drinks, appetizers, etc. Here you will find options for all types of eaters.

What do I do in my free time?

When I’m not cooking or blogging, I like to binge-watch fantasy series/movies, admire nature, daydream about chocolate, and most importantly, spend some quality time with my babies (2 doggos and a kitten).

PS:-

I do not have any formal culinary or photography training nor, have I blogged before. I am still an amateur who is still learning something new every day because cooking is a never-ending journey. I hope together we can learn and experience new things.
